1. Leave me be, you who blame me,
And pour the wine cups in the dark of night.

2. Awaken to pleasure though the eyelids sleep,
While time marches on in heedless days.

3. For life is to find you in the night
The sun of day, the full moon's light.

4. Greet her with acceptance from you, as she greeted you,
And meet her smile with a smile.

5. A gentle soul has come, though she came not before,
To fill souls in bodies.

6. So serve it to me pure and fresh like lawful water,
Far from anything sinful.

7. Take it far from gossip and immorality and from description -
I see you have them both as well as wine.

8. Leave a garden of pardon and an early spring
Brought by the harbingers of clouds.

9. For life is an onslaught, and the joys
Of nights pass like dreams.

10. And if you fear sins, God's pardon
Cannot be hoped for by any but sinners.

11. Repent of the repentance which
Whispered empty fancies into your soul.

12. Forget it through all of Sha'ban, and recall it
When the month of fasting begins.

13. Take an aged bottle of wine
After food and bath.

14. Let the taste be a kiss of cheek and lip
From a crescent moon revealed by a swaying branch.

15. The group bears witness that I
Will not be pleased with Avicenna as my servant.
