1. The virtues of the best of messengers are great
Exceeding the bright flowers and honorable

2. Glory to Him who gave him what none other was endowed with
A gift that was matchless and unpretentious

3. His appearance was like the full moon on a night it extends
And like the sun except that it does not eclipse

4. So say, when his speech flows amidst an assembly
The meadow's breeze has gently blown, perfumed

5. Oh what sorrow if I cannot reach his presence
And the eye longs for him from afar

6. For my distance from him, my heart burns
If only I could see him, how I would yearn

7. Oh my liver, melt in longing for his grave
And oh tears of my eyes, do not cease your flow

8. Describe him and exaggerate his virtues with what
You wish, though I know your description falls short

9. For what words of yours can fully capture his stature
A book of poetry cannot equal the scripture

10. May Allah bless you as long as the lightning gleams
And as long as the bendable branch sways gently in the breeze
