1. Poetry is to build a vaster expanse
Where I give rest to the weary and pained

2. Show through it those who cannot see their faces
Place them in the courtyard of the Highest

3. With it I pour the universe into song
Make it a gateway for passion flung open

4. Spill it as an aroma, youthful and eternal
Its murmurs revive the withered soul

5. Poetry is to come saddled with sorrow
My letters block the rattling disturbance

6. I spur the letters of confession weeping
In every abyss snatching the fallen

7. Bombs come.. bullets.. flames
A tank.. a battleship.. a cannon

8. Poetry is dreams.. sorrow.. burning
I was addicted when I was most enamored

9. Poetry is a gate in the bounds of visions
For a thousand generations granting the finest
