1. How many nations has time folded over it
And erased it from the record of existence

2. Thus it folds and erases time and again
Years in which years follow one another

3. States have played in their cycles
Then faded and others cycle

4. And in this universe are hidden secrets
Carved by the fire of minds

5. And the probes of thought wandered in it
Perplexed, not knowing how to explore

6. While man is seen smiling
And days seem prosperous to him

7. You see him shedding tears of blood
Complaining of his sorrow in lamentations

8. This world and what is in it is vanity
In vain you hope for peace from the world

9. It suckled us at the breast of intimacy and cheer
And gave us bitterness after weaning

10. So why does this world tyrannize?
This is not the practice of people

11. God has judged us as He deemed fit
So stop searching into these obscure matters

12. And hold firmly to God’s rope
Do not ask about what the hidden conceals

13. When the queen of the sea sailed
One night, boasting in the most splendid dress

14. Like a bride in the darkness she sailed
An innocent girl, not caring for the pitch-dark

15. And people's minds were spellbound by her
How wondrous she looked to them gliding

16. Like a shooting star, her light splitting the sky
Or she became one of the swimming stars

17. I wonder who in the world knew
That she was destined in the book of fate

18. So they let her boast without approval
For she had no critics in her sailing

19. Maybe the blooms of space envied her
And gave her the evil eye out of envy

20. Or it was destiny in the decree of fate
It did not let her boast until tomorrow

21. She collided with a towering iceberg
They paid it no heed or attention

22. But when danger overwhelmed her
They knew how ill-fated ships collide

23. They cried out to God when they were gathered
And the sea's wave rose up then settled

24. Oh, if only the sea had a mind and blood
It would have frozen when it saw the danger

25. How many a bride parts from the groom
As a soul parts from a body

26. Regret pounds her teeth
And she complains to her Lord in sorrow

27. O Lord, I have suffered much pain
If only I was not in this life

28. They shot lightning across the ether
And it started shrieking for help

29. In a space where it had no protector
And seas that unsheathed the sword of destruction

30. And the great among them became like the small
All bowing down to the angel of death

31. Then disaster struck after what
The lightning tore the veil of the heavens

32. It raced continuously, splitting the darkness
Towards those whose paths of salvation narrowed

33. The horses had no neighing in battle
No clanging of swords

34. Terrified, sinking into quicksand
In dread of the looming cliffs

35. And the elite of the people, how many killed
Who, had they lived, would have kept thousands alive

36. How many a brave man surrendered voluntarily
Though he had no regard for death

37. And the proud soul led to destruction honorably
A ransom for the souls of ladies

38. Oh what a night it slyly attacked
Relaxed against the dawn a barrier

39. A mourning spot for the people it became
While for sea monsters it was a wedding

40. How many a brave sheathed his sword
And courageous men walked where the people walked

41. The world poured vengeance upon them
And for them the passes narrowed

42. And those who used to preserve reputations
Became like those who were criminals in truth

43. They bid farewell when the time of parting came
"Our Lord, to You we are nearer"

44. They blamed themselves for gathering
For bitter death's torment

45. And they sank into the depths of a sea
Whose water will never deplete

46. So preserve, O sea, those relics
For they belong to fallen heroes

47. The pearls in you are not like
Such blessed remains

48. O stars, you have witnessed this existence
Since eras past, and God is All-Knowing

49. Disaster reached that position
Where the ghosts of doom crowd

50. It snatched from the claw of death the victims
Everyone in the sea alive among them

51. With them it came to this sanctuary
And they made it instead of lamps

52. If only time had ended with this
And spared us its evils and afflictions

53. There were no witnesses to the tragedy
Except you above that dreadful sea

54. How are the people faring in the abode of eternity
In bliss or torment, I wonder

55. By my life, it is nothing but a dream
That paradise the storytellers tell of

56. And the people's hell became when
They floundered in deep darkness

57. The sword of dawn unsheathed from the scabbard of darkness
And the stars disappeared into the void

58. Disaster reached that position
