2. And whose ambition is like a throne for him
And that was counted as part of his foolishness

ูˆูŽู‚ูŽุฏ ุนูุฏู‘ูŽ ุฐูŽู„ูƒ ู…ูู† ุณูุฎููู‡ู

3. The days seem hard on you while youโ€™re in them
And though most of that is due to their fickleness

4. So do not despair, for strangulation
Its tightness is cut by its own coarseness

5. For the cloud may break after the downpour
Though the earth was flooded by its burden

ูฅ. ููŽู‚ูŽุฏ ูŠูŽู‚ุดูŽุน ุงู„ุบูŽูŠู…ู ุจูŽุนุฏูŽ ุงู„ู‡ูุทูˆู„ู
ูˆูŽุฅูู† ุทุจู‘ูŽู‚ูŽ ุงู„ุฃูŽุฑุถ ู…ู† ูˆูŽูƒูู‡

6. And the Lord of servants is gentle with them
So let not the self despair of His gentleness

7. Blessed is He who is Mighty in His dominion
And Sublime is the Overseer beyond description

8. Beseech Him when night falls
In what troubles you and in its relief

ูจ. ุชูŽูˆูŽุณู‘ูŽู„ ุฅูู„ูŽูŠู‡ู ุฅูุฐุง ุงู„ู„ูŽูŠู„ู ุฌูŽู†ู‘ูŽ
ููŠู…ุง ุฏูŽู‡ุงูƒูŽ ูˆูŽููŠ ูƒูŽุดููู‡ู

9. He will give you rest from the prison of the worldโ€™s abode
And suffice you from what you find yourself lacking

10. Of shackles and darkness in sorrowful Adham
Painful is your torment in its violence

ุฃูŽู„ูŠู…ูŒ ุนูŽุฐุงุจููƒูŽ ู…ู† ุนูู†ููู‡ู

11. He releases your ties from their captivity
And comfort for your heart from its agony

ูกูก. ูŠููƒ ูˆุซุงู‚ูƒ ู…ู† ุฃูŽุณุฑูู‡ุง
ูˆูŽุฑุงุญุฉ ู‚ู„ุจูƒ ู…ู† ู„ูŽู‡ููู‡ู

12. Or with a drink from the goblets of death
For living has tired him of its ugliness

ูกูข. ูˆูŽุฅูู…ู‘ุง ุจูุดูุฑุจู ุญูŠุงุถู ุงู„ู…ูู†ูˆู†ู
ููŽู‚ูŽุฏ ุณูŽุฆูู…ูŽ ุงู„ุนูŠุด ู…ู† ุฎูŽุณููู‡ู

13. And redoubled is the passion of one whoโ€™s imprisoned
The words of one absent from his side

ู…ูŽู‚ุงู„ูŽุฉ ู…ู† ุบุงุจูŽ ู…ูู† ุทูŽุฑููู‡ู

14. Who says, and some sayings of the foolish
Kill if they are not hidden

ูกูค. ูŠูŽู‚ูˆู„ ูˆูŽุจูŽุนุถู ูƒูŽู„ุงู… ุงู„ุณูŽููŠู‡
ูŠูู‚ุชู‘ูู„ ุฅูู† ู‡ูˆูŽ ู„ู… ูŠูุฎููู‡ู

15. Is this the ambition of one from Mecca
Who runs by his feet to his demise?

ูกูฅ. ุฃูŽู‡ูŽุฐุง ุงู„ุชูู‡ุงู…ููŠู‘ู ู…ู† ู…ูŽูƒู‘ูŽุฉู
ุจูุฑูุฌู„ูŽูŠู‡ู ูŠูŽุณุนู‰ ุฅูู„ู‰ ุญูŽุชููู‡ู

16. Does it not suffice him that the garb of life
Is tight upon him? Does it not suffice him?

ูกูฆ. ุฃูŽู„ูŽู… ูŠูŽูƒููู‡ู ุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ุซูˆุจ ุงู„ุญูŽูŠุงุฉู
ุถุงู‚ ุนูŽู„ูŽูŠู‡ู ุฃูŽู„ูŽู… ูŠูŽูƒููู‡ู

17. He wanted to fly the flight of kings
And thought hearsay was his equipment

ูกูง. ุฃูŽุฑุงุฏ ูŠูŽุทูŠุฑ ู…ูŽุทุงุฑ ุงู„ู…ูู„ูˆูƒู
ูˆูŽุธูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุฃูŽุณูู†ู‘ูŽุฉ ู…ู† ุฒูŽูู‘ูู‡ู

18. And he was like the leader of the army of misguidance
Gabriel saw him in its ranks

19. Yellow, trembling from his throat
When a man trembles from his nose

20. And I reckon the sword of the Prophet's grandson
Will redden its sharpness with his blood

ูŠูุฎูŽุถู‘ูุจู ุญุฏู‘ูŽูŠู‡ู ู…ู† ุนูุฑููู‡ู

21. I see the angel of death drawing near him
While he bites on his palm

ูขูก. ุฃูŽุฑู‰ ู…ูŽู„ูŽูƒู ุงู„ู…ูŽูˆุชู ูŠูŽุฏู†ูˆ ุฅูู„ูŽูŠู‡ู
ูˆูŽู‡ูˆูŽ ูŠูŽุนูŽุถู‘ู ุนูŽู„ู‰ ูƒูŽูู‘ูู‡ู

22. O master poet, you wish for highness
While you fall short in describing it

ูขูข. ุฃูŽุจุง ุงู„ุดูุนุฑู ูˆูŽูŠุญูƒ ุชูŽุจุบูŠ ุงู„ุนูู„ู‰
ูˆูŽุฃูŽู†ุชูŽ ุชูู‚ูŽุตู‘ูุฑู ุนูŽู† ูˆูŽุตููู‡ู

23. You were not qualified to settle
Upon the seat of kingdom or its edge

ูขูฃ. ูˆูŽู„ูŽู… ุชูŽูƒู ุฃูŽู‡ู„ุงู‹ ุจุฃู† ุชุณุชู‚ุฑู‘ูŽ
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ู…ู†ุจุฑ ุงู„ู…ูู„ูƒู ุฃูŽูˆ ุทูŽุฑููู‡ู

24. Because you are more skillful than a poet
In the meanness of poetry despite its weakness

ูขูค. ู„ุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽูƒูŽ ุฃูŽุจูˆุฑ ู…ู† ุดุงุนูุฑู
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ุฎูุณู‘ูŽุฉู ุงู„ุดูุนุฑ ู…ูŽุน ุถูŽุนููู‡ู

25. You shed blood after you protected it
And ignited embers without extinguishing them

ูขูฅ. ุฃูŽุฑู‚ุชูŽ ุฏูŽู…ุงู‹ ุจูŽุนุฏูŽู…ุง ุตูู†ุชูŽู‡ู
ูˆูŽุฃูŽุดุนูŽู„ุชูŽ ุฌูŽู…ุฑุงู‹ ูˆูŽู„ูŽู… ุชูุทููู‡ู

26. And you quenched a smoldering fire
While your chest blazed without cooling it

ูขูฆ. ูˆูŽุฃูŽุดููŽูŠุชูŽ ู…ูู†ุชูŽุธูุฑุงู‹ ู„ูู„ุจูŽูˆุงุฑู
ูˆูŽุตูŽุฏุฑููƒูŽ ุญูŽุฑู‘ุงู†ู ู„ูŽู… ุชูุดููู‡ู

27. By your life, I am clever among men
Whoever restrains or casts down his gaze

ูขูง. ู„ุนู…ุฑููƒ ุฅูู†ู‘ูŠ ู„ูŽุจูŠุจู ุงู„ุฑูุฌุงู„
ู…ู† ูƒูŽูู‘ูŽ ุฃูŽูˆ ุบูŽุถู‘ูŽ ู…ู† ุทูŽุฑููู‡ู

28. When the role model of a lad pleases him
Captivate him and look to his behind

ูขูจ. ุฅูุฐุง ู…ุง ุฅูู…ุงู… ุงู„ููŽุชู‰ ุฑุงู‚ูŽู‡ู
ูุงุณุจูŠู‡ ูˆุงู†ุธุฑ ุฅูู„ู‰ ุฎูŽู„ููู‡ู

29. To God I complain of matters that occurred
Without intent and make them rise

ูขูฉ. ุฅูู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ูŽู‡ู ุฃูŽุดูƒูˆ ุฃูู…ูˆุฑุงู‹ ุฌูŽุฑูŽุช
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ุบูŠุฑ ู‚ูŽุตุฏู ูˆุงุณุชูŽูุนูู‡ู

30. And how many speakers they imprisoned
For seeking the kingdom out of passion

ูฃู . ูˆูŽูƒูŽู… ู‚ุงุฆูู„ู ุณูŽุฌูŽู†ูˆู‡ู ุนูŽู„ู‰
ุชุทู„ู‘ูุจูู‡ู ุงู„ู…ู„ูƒ ู…ูู† ู„ูŽู‡ููู‡ู

31. Does one seek the kingdom who is not of it
Nor of its children or genre?

ูฃูก. ุฃูŽูŠุทู‘ูŽู„ูุจู ุงู„ู…ูู„ูƒูŽ ู…ูŽู† ู„ูŽูŠุณูŽ ู…ูู†ู‡ู
ูˆูŽู„ุง ู…ู† ุจู†ูŠู‡ ูˆูŽู„ุง ุตูู†ููู‡ู

32. And one who had wisdom in sciences
Detention makes him deny its roughness

ูฃูข. ูˆูŽู…ูŽู† ูƒุงู†ูŽ ุฐุง ุญูู†ูƒูŽุฉู ุจูุงู„ุนูู„ูˆู…ู
ู‚ุงุฑ ุจูู‡ู ุงู„ุจุคุณ ู…ูู† ุญูŽุฑููู‡ู

33. When the stick dries of its wetness
That is more conducive to snapping it

ูฃูฃ. ุฅูุฐุง ู†ุดููŽ ุงู„ุนูˆุฏ ู…ูู† ู…ุงุฆูู‡ู
ููŽุฐูŽู„ููƒูŽ ุฃูŽุฏุนู‰ ุฅูู„ู‰ ู‚ูŽุตููู‡ู

34. And the virtuous looks into his matter
Like the deficient looks into his weakness

ูฃูค. ูˆูŽุฐูˆ ุงู„ููŽุถู„ ูŠูŽู†ุธุฑู ููŠ ุฃูŽู…ุฑูู‡ู
ูƒูŽุฐูŠ ุงู„ู†ูŽู‚ุตู ูŠูŽู†ุธูุฑู ููŠ ุนูŽุทููู‡ู

35. For the death of the ambitious causes
Separation of companionship from its intimacy

ูฃูฅ. ููŽุฅูู†ู‘ูŽ ู…ูุตุงุฑูุนูŽ ุจุบูŠ ุงู„ุฑูุฌุงู„ู
ูŠูŽุฎุชูŽุฑูู…ู ุงู„ุฃูู„ููŽ ู…ูู† ุฅูู„ููู‡ู

36. So do not congratulate a man tomorrow
Who will be divided in half by the sword

ูฃูฆ. ููŽู„ุง ุชูŽุบุจูุทูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ุฃูŽู…ุฑุฃู‹ ููŠ ุบูŽุฏู
ุณูŠู‚ุณูู…ูู‡ู ุงู„ุณูŽูŠู ู…ูู† ู†ูุตููู‡ู

37. I have been encircled by tribulations
Like an enemy circumambulating what borders him

ูฃูง. ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ู†ุงุฆูุจุงุชู ููŽู‚ูŽุฏ ุทููู†ูŽ ุจูŠ
ุทูŽูˆุงู ุงู„ุบูŽุฑูŠู…ู ูŠู…ู† ูŠูŽุญููู‡ู

38. And all are sinful for what they say
What one has said will be read in his scripture

ุณูŠู‚ุฑุง ุงู„ู‘ูŽุฐูŠ ู‚ุงู„ูŽ ููŠ ุตูุญููู‡ู

39. And there is nothing but the pitfalls of time
And an opinion that misguides in its weakness

ูฃูฉ. ูˆูŽู„ูŽูŠุณูŽ ุณููˆู‰ ู†ูŽูƒูŽุจุงุชู ุงู„ุฒูŽู…ุงู†ู
ูˆูŽุฑุฃูŠูŒ ูŠูุถู„ู‘ููƒูŽ ููŠ ุถูŽุนููู‡ู

40. From me is greetings upon the people of Mecca
And love for whoever befriended or aligned with me

I am seen in the grave inside its enclosure
