So through it hope is brought near and kept distant

6. If you see her hide her love gracefully
Then maybe the sword hides the scabbard

7. I did not forget her though separation flows her tears
Upon a horizon that pleases the eye

8. Her cheek is graced by the tears of joy and sorrow
No glance turns from it if it sees it curve

9. If she let a tear flow with kohl, then her cheek
Is a ray of light and the tears are ink

10. In her glance is an illness, yet it is health
But the illness of a glance does not return

11. Is it not strange that our hearts are hunted
By a gazelle, and I know the gazelle is hunted

12. When barrenness succeeds her abode
The heights of Ali water it, it is a habit

13. A downpour, but a drop of rain is a pearl
Made complete, or a tune and generosity

14. A torrent whose flood is only water
Like a torrent whose flood is copious and continuous

15. The heights are generous in bestowing gifts
But grasping spears they are misers

16. He roams among them in war like an eagle
Yet its wing is dyed

17. His swords are reddened as if they are
Embers from blood and dust is their smoke

18. He has a generosity like the sea, ever increasing
Whenever hoped for, exhaustion is not feared from him

19. My soul clung to him until I came to him
So I attained success, and defying souls is rectitude

20. And I tied my hopes to the confidant of the state
The harvest of wishes lies in its seeds

21. In the market of praise, his magnanimity is spent
While in the market of meanness there is recession

22. The right hand of the king shakes from him, cultivated
A tongue protects it like an Indian sword

23. He has surges of generosity, preceding
To his munificence, and gifts that follow

24. He brought the corpses of the people of Tayy back to life
With his loftiness, and glory when it is built

25. So if the dead among them do not return, their memory remains
And the memory of the youth before death is like death

26. I saw Ali in virtues like his name
Exalted, with the scent of mountains and sand

27. So if they share his name, perhaps
An inanimate being will share in a speaking name

28. Insightful in leaving generosity to its rightful owner
Not everyone who gives extravagantly is generous

29. You have increased this age in beauty and awe
As if you are the essence of time itself

30. If God fashioned mankind as one
He would fashion them as a body and you as its heart

31. You carried loftiness with generosity until you seized it
And for glory there is game to hunt

32. You have sealed Tayy while it is the masters of men
And every generous one is a master who will master

33. Tayy is the pillar of people in every abode
And you, son of nobles, are its pillar

34. You lead the progeny of Qahtan, the family of Mufrij
And if the family of Mufrij did not lead, they would build

35. When they lay foundations, they are stable, and if they promise, they fulfill
If they start with favors, they repeat them

36. They benefited my praise, and I gained their reward
And everyone who benefits, if you see, repeats

37. I saw the heights embodied as Qahtan’s visage
With Tayy as its eye, and you as its pupil

38. To you, every rugged and desolate terrain fled
Cloaked, like the prayer mats

39. The terrain complained of their hooves, as if
Bodies of blood water were upon them

40. And a blamer said, "Wait, perhaps
Some vegetation will please you," and it is the liver

41. So I said to her, "Stop! The family of Mufrij
Is an abundant spring, and the knowledgeable are its waterskins"

42. Does Mufrij disappoint my expectation of his father?
No! The steeds of generosity are steeds
