And the existence of inebriation

And my glory in poverty

8. For the poor to attain
The gardens of intimacy

9. A cup of wine circulates
Purified of any blemish

10. It is the mind’s comprehension
And the soul’s life

11. No tongue could encompass
Describing it fully

12. Whoever drinks it openly
Has been granted its secret

13. It shone like the sun
In the heart’s glass

14. Blended in goblets
From the quintessence of love

15. And it guided souls
Through the veils

16. So it saw clearly
The praiseworthy patience

17. And witnessed openly
Jonas in the sea

18. It lured its guide
And inspired its inspiration

19. It was served to the Friend
And to Noah before him

20. It guided the wayfarer
And lit his paths

21. Do not ask how it was
The being of that matter

22. No place can contain
The secret of that mystery

23. And for Moses the Speaker
When it manifested itself to Mount Sinai

24. A wing of a sublime night
Behind the secret of the Light

25. The noble Prophet
Slept from it delighted

26. In pleasure and gratitude
And the sublime decree

27. His status is the best of statuses
In banners and pride

28. For the Prophet Messenger
The servant’s longing grew

29. Lord, bring near the arrival
Of those who complain of distantness

30. On the wind of acceptance
Bring me closer to my quest

31. Time has been unjust to me
In the passion of the one I do not know

32. I fall silent or speak
I have made it my instinct
