1. The ignorant man boasts that God has made
Him alone free behind the veil.
١. يَفخَرُ الباهِلِيُّ أَن جَعَلَ اللَ
هُ لَهُ وَحدَهُ حِراً مِن وَراءِ
2. And I said on the day when he leaned toward Mas'ud
And cast off from him the cloak of modesty:
٢. وَلَقَد قُلتُ يَومَ زافَ لِمَسعو
دٍ وَأَلقى عَنهُ قِناعَ الحَياءِ
3. "The tattler told me something about you,
So fear God in covering your shame.
٣. خَبَّرَتني القَنفاءُ عَنكِ بِشَيءٍ
فَاِتَّقِ اللَهَ في اِستِكَ البَخراءِ
4. Do not forsake the adulteress and forsake Zubayr ibn al-Awwam,
And ask your two sisters about the sweetness of adultery."
٤. لا تَدَع زِنيَةً وَدَع زُبَّ يَحيى
وَاِسأَلِ أُختَيكَ عَن لَذيذِ الزِناءِ
