1. The morning of celebration has returned
So my enduring heart is exultant,

2. With love for a gazelle he hunted,
O you who saw a gazelle being hunted!

3. With thousands of friends at the Hijaz,
For him a lofty palace erected,

4. All around it his guards,
At its gate a belligerent lion.

5. The gazelle, his dwelling is the meadow,
A fugitive wandering in it scared,

6. The rains never cease to shade it,
As well as the ice in it.

7. The gazelle, passions fell it
While it avoids any partnership.

8. It dodges my arrows if I shoot,
And if it shoots, it is the excellent one.

9. So when it shot, it hit my heart
With an arrow right on target

10. As it walked sneaking up the souls
With behind it the complaints being led

11. It walks delicately like the soft wind
Graceful and shy it proceeds

12. On the carpet there is a pearl
In it emerald and rare

13. Chokers adorned it
Their circles delicately knit

14. And it sings, busily moving
As if it is fiery coal and firewood

15. The earrings on a crescent
Its canal from a distant mountain

16. A delicate waist, its bend
Like the course of a brook, it cheers up

17. That which delighted youth with it
And poetry obeyed me

18. The one whose love in my heart remains
Never to perish or disappear

19. Whoever’s love time eradicated
Then your love continues to grow

20. Or if time changed it
Then your love is fresh and new

21. Or if one is patient in passion
Then I am the weak, the submissive one

22. One day when I meet you
And by yearning I am the compliant one

23. I cannot answer you
While to others, my words are ready

24. But your love is the strongest love
And the weakest love is severe

25. So if I gain seclusion with my beloved
Then I am the happy one

26. Or if I die of my love for her
Then I am the martyr, the witness
