1. The enemies reproached me, while the fault was theirs,
It is no disgrace if one is called blind,
١. وَعَيَّرَني الأَعداءُ وَالعَيبُ فيهِمُ
وَلَيسَ بِعارٍ أَن يُقالَ ضَريرُ
2. If one can see honor and piety,
For blindness of the eyes cannot cause harm,
٢. إِذا أَبصَرَ المَرءُ المُروءَةَ وَالتُقى
فَإِنَّ عَمى العَينَينِ لَيسَ يَضيرُ
3. I found blindness as reward, provision and protection,
And I am in need of those three things.
٣. رَأَيتُ العَمى أَجراً وَذُخراً وَعِصمَةً
وَإِنّي إِلى تِلكَ الثَلاثِ فَقيرُ
