1. O Lord of mankind, to You we come, You are the hoped for.
You are the One God, the Beneficent.

2. We stand at the gates of hope, and we have none but You,
As our refuge and destination through all our days.

3. In everything around us are signs from You,
That glorify God’s name, or seek forgiveness.

4. The seven heavens had insights,
And so did the lowest of birds, for those who reason.

5. The earths that carry their weight,
And the towering mountains, silent, rising and falling.

6. And the ships flowing through the sea between its waves,
You command them as You will, You lead them or let them drift.

7. At the gentle striking of rain, the ground soaks up its falling,
Then gives back the rain in streams that flow.

8. So to You, Lord of mankind, I have none but You,
Never did I have besides God a guardian or protector.

9. I called You in the darkness of night, and in Your forgiveness
Came light, beside which the sun seems dim.

10. When desire leads me to evil deeds,
And I heed its call, contemplating.

11. My heart trembles, so it seeks refuge in His kindness,
Which then pours down favor that nothing erases thereafter.

12. We call and You give abundantly, though we persist
In sin, then repent and You accept us back.

13. Uncountable blessings from God, the greatest of which
Is faith in God, from the very start.

14. He legislated for us an upright religion, founded on
Guidance to the truth, even as matters grow complex.

15. And He ordained consultation as the basis of our affairs,
As legislated by this honored Prophet.

16. He sent down the Criterion, to decide between us
With justice, seeking judgment through the Oft-repeated Scripture.

17. As for one who chooses guidance and its way,
God’s reward is more fulfilling and superior.

18. But one who chooses misguidance and desire,
Will face my Lord’s scales, even more just.

19. Can one who guides to the guidance and its way
Be like one drowned in seas of misguidance?

20. The two are not equal. One leads to piety,
The other to Satan, if you reason.

21. The end for the tyrants was made clear,
While your Lord guides whom He wills, and leaves astray whom He wills.

22. One who lives heedless of God,
Will have a devilish companion, enticing and misguiding.

23. So glorify God with praise, do not be unmindful,
Indeed one who neglects praise is failed.

24. Do not assume God neglects a moment,
Indeed, He takes account of you, then delays the reckoning.

25. Failed is one who worships other than You by nightfall,
Disgraced, misguided through endless days.

26. Does one worship a grave, or ask the dead,
And prostrate to idols, all bound?

27. It is but an upright way that never falters
Or changes, it only grew straight.

28. Does one know that there is no god but Him,
Then worship others besides God, and make excuses?

29. So stand devoutly for the One who shaped creation,
And adorned the world with beauty.

30. To banish jinn from it, if any try to eavesdrop,
And as a light to guide us, while each is deferred.

31. Be humble to your Lord, and patiently persevere,
For the patient and trusting are indeed successful.

32. Do not covet, for coveting brings regret,
And each is recompensed for their deeds.
