1. Convey to the shepherds in their meadow
That today I heard the beautiful call

2. So I raced the winds joyfully
While the rain poured in its vast courtyard

3. My heart yearns whenever it calls out to him
And the specter flows to it from its corners

4. With gardens, melodious, of delights
It took this heart around its parts

5. Is it that or a barren wasteland beyond it
A barrier in the way to meet it

6. I hurried to it, behind its homes
Miles of wasteland scattered in its surroundings

7. At dawn, the wind pounds its text
And rain sweeps its branches

8. Of it, domes collapsed after
Time filled and prolonged its existence

9. Its huts crumbled among the plains
Becoming eroded of its beauty and brilliance

10. In a verdant garden, the tops of its palm trees bent
And birds flocked high above it

11. Ducks swam above it like shining stars
Surveying the meadow for its escape

12. Or a stubborn, stiff-necked gazelle
Seeking with the arrow of death among its thickets

13. It was watched behind the canes by hunters
Toying with spears beneath its sky

14. Seven of them pounced like lightning
Without encountering despair in its burrows

15. The first of them outpaced its running
By the arrow of death in its hidden lair

16. It bolted, then returned with its arrow
As if dragging the water of the heart when called

17. Lightning accompanied it whenever
It shook its sides, flowing with its brilliance

18. It cried like (Mubarak) in his robes
Or like (Zain's) bleating in its calls

19. Or (Susan's) loss of its looted treasures
Yesterday between its (beauty) and (sublimity)

20. They did not raise up except the lowly, and did not shout
Except the evil shepherds of its ministers

21. And so is the fate of one who ruled the country with meanness
Scattered in its ruins is his end
