1. You still insult and revile me
Yet Allah is my Lord, the best avenger

2. Remember you will stand alone for judgement tomorrow
Detached from allies and supporters

3. Though able, I will not retaliate
But I complain to the Judge

4. And lift my hands to Him in prayer
Under the dark, starry sky

5. I do what pleases Allah
And to Him I devote my ambitions

6. I shun evil, I do not pursue it
Though the spiteful covet it

7. Goodness is radiant, enlightening
Those who stand for the Merciful

8. Know that I am a man
Of gentle temper yet generous spirit

9. Of a people Allah granted
Lofty, eminent honour

10. Were it not for fear of blame
I would wage war on nations

11. Tell the youth I have for them
Rebukes not yet delivered

12. Is this how you were taught
The manners of your Lord’s religion?

13. Cursed be the hand of a man
Whose grudges against me are unabated

14. I taught him knowledge to benefit him
Yet insults are his reward, let him be judged

15. Though I am forbearing
My sorrow must find voice

16. I am no aggressor, never have I
Been hasty, unconsidered in conduct

17. Often have I fought the foolish
With fiery eyes like embers

18. Glowering at me with serpentine
Malice in his breast

19. I left him in eternal disgrace
Thus I treat all transgressors
