1. I recite poetry inspired by the martyrs
And find in them the elegy of the noble Arabs

2. And fill the world with yearning and passion
And the mouth of time with praise and eulogy

3. Live their memory and stand in their quarters
And imagine them morning and evening

4. And pour out my heart over their remains
Drops and shed tears of blood

5. They contain bodies that carried
In their bosoms, glory and defiance

6. They contain souls that refused
To live insignificantly on earth

7. Send the poetry as a silent moan
And send the melody as a lonely chant

8. Raise up the sighs, do not hold them back
From the stillness of the soul, release them in tears

9. And elicit from them a painful longing
And melt therein yearning and lament

10. And breathe out the pains, burn the liver
For in pain there is solace and consolation

Torn apart unjustly and aggressively

Melted in sorrow, misery and agony

24. And the people of the whole world and heaven
We ruled the land with justice and were

25. Only merciful and noble
And we rescued the West from its darkness

26. And filled the page of the universe with light

They claimed we are beasts, they lied

28. And alleged falsehood, lies and slander
We do not care for this allegation

29. We give it no value and disdain it
This desert - how much it grew

31. And tasted among them bread and water
They gave you refuge from oppressive tribes

32. Who were harsh and banishing to you
Remember what was in Andalusia

33. And read history and take the forefathers as example
And now come we will show you

36. So we dealt with you in affection and loyalty
