At other times holding them high

6. Silent yet speaking
Slowing yet hastening

7. Bare yet covered
Veiled yet exposed

8. Glancing, walking only glancing
Where are those with modest glances?

9. With movements unrestrained
By modesty unconstrained

10. And glowing cheeks
And prominent breasts

11. And supple waists
And bodies adorned

12. And roving eyes
And speaking lips

13. Memories of the feast—oh, what
Wounds and gashes for the heart!

14. O wounded heart, what you seek has passed;
Leave me, feast memories, leave the does!

15. Is the world anything but song,
Women and girls?

16. Ask, my heart, and recall no more,
Abandon regret,

17. And singing of vain, deceitful hopes.
