1. Leave our noble companions alone
For each has reached the highest ranks

2. And each has greatly exalted Islam until
We knew them as towering giants

3. And each has received a glorious share
So sublime and precious are those shares

4. Stars after the best of people they were
And still are, dispelling the darkness

5. Disciples of the prophecy, the best companions
Of the one whose prophecy was the seal

6. The stalwarts of glory saw them as an army
Who pitched tents made of honor

7. So it neighed to them in welcome
And placed the reins in their hands

8. Their emigrants, of great noble stature
And their supporters carried the insignia

9. Men who recorded in history
Heroic feats that give sight to the blind

10. Stars in the sky - so how can reach them
One who refused ought but rubble?

11. Oh you who cling to delusion
And turn our law into conflict

12. And compile for yourselves a dictionary of insults
Whose rotten letters hurt the honorable

13. And venture into hatred’s swamps
Increasing your own malady

14. Leave Abu Bakr the truthful alone
And his two truthful, resolute, sagacious friends

15. The prophet’s companion in the cave - most generously
Rewarded by a companionship that raised his status

16. Leave the intrepid one, a tower of loftiness
Whose justice illuminated Egypt and Greater Syria

17. Leave the beloved of two prophets alone
And do not carelessly speak of her

18. The book of God acquitted her, so the veil
Was torn from every hypocritical slanderer

19. Leave the pinnacles of the companions be for they are highest
And how can the short reach the summit?

20. Oh you who drank a cup of hatred
And caused cleavage within the rank

21. I seek refuge in my Creator from evil deeds
Depicted by your persistent misguidance

22. For the people of the house I sent rhymes
To bring them an enamored heart

23. We granted them love for Islam
And gave greetings and peace

24. Our religion gives us a radiant sun
That splits your night no matter how far you stray

25. We shook off the dust you kicked up
And he who shakes off dust will see the clouds

26. “Ali” is the fourth caliph, and so
We will grant him our “respect”

27. We love you O father of the two grandsons, a love
That if inert matter was imbued with, it would yearn

28. And if its fragrances were smelled by the hills
They would not celebrate roses or flowers

29. We love you as long as love
Does not teach us discord and conflict

30. We emulate the best of people in you
For we do not accept our bond being severed

31. Nor do we accept extremism, for we have placed
A muzzle on the mouth of every excess

32. Oh you who raised the banner of aggression
Carrying lethal gloom

33. Our law is the light of the sun, but
You made that light darkness within you

34. You erected the love of the people of the house as a bridge
For your call, thus misguiding people

35. And how can one who does not heed
Their principles or consideration love them?

36. We say to you, as our eyes see you
Either a mirage or a delusion:

37. Far from our law, leaning
Towards innovations even if you prayed and fasted

38. The positions have uncovered crowds
Whose disappointment the throngs uncover

39. The controversial issues, as they occur
Teach lessons that awaken the astute zeal

40. And the great tribulations are but a test
That shows who strayed and who stayed straight
