1. The edicts complain in your time of their plight
After space has robbed them of their beauty

2. They have become troubled in spirit, did you complain

16. O you who have undertaken the trust of your knowledge

17. Not everyone who fluttered arrows shot them
How many arrows do not like their arrowheads?

18. Hastiness in edicts is a gap
Through which great tribulations infiltrate

And narrow its path and scope

20. They used to vie over its question and answer
Out of piety, not trivializing its affliction

21. What has happened to you all, you broke its door
Breaking it and leaving no veil over it

22. Return to the guidance of the Wise One, and unleash
The piety of souls, and shatter their shackles

23. O hasteners to edicts, be gentle
For perhaps an edict will destroy its utterer

24. And perhaps an edict will cause a devout one
To doubt what he has, and shake him

25. What is with you that you forget a Day of Resurrection
Whose terrors God alone knows?
