1. The night God watered was so long when his ghost visited
I tenderly embraced him till the morn broke
١. سَقى اللَهُ لَيْلاً طالَ إِذْ زارَ طَيْفُهُ
فَأَفْنَيْتُهُ حَتَّى الصَّباحِ عِناقا
2. With the scent of his gentle breeze hearts are captivated
And if the drunk had slept in it, he would have awoken
٢. بِطيبِ نَسيمٍ مِنْهُ يُسْتَجْلَبُ الكَرى
وَلَوْ رَقَدَ المَخْمُورُ فيهِ أَفاقا
3. He possessed me when he possessed my being
And left me when I dreaded parting
٣. تَمَلَّكَني لَمَّا تَمَلَّكَ مُهْجَتي
وفارَقَني لَمَّا أَمِنْتُ فِراقا
