1. The full moon and the branch narrated to me,
Of this in full and that in elegance.
١. وَسَاقٍ حَكَى البَدْر وَالغُصْن لِي
فَذَا بِالتَّمامِ وَذَا بِالقَوامْ
2. He gave me two cups in a sitting,
The cup of wine and the cup of passion.
٢. سَقَاني بِكأْسَيْنِ في مَجْلِسٍ
بِكأسِ المُدامِ وَكأسِ الغَرامْ
3. Slow to recover like me, as I had
Drunk the two wines in seizing the moment.
٣. بَطِيءِ الإِفَاقَةِ مِثْلِي وَقَدْ
شَرِبْتُ المُدَامَيْنِ شُرْبَ اغْتِنامْ
