1. O you whom when patience escapes me
Yearning answers and a tear that does not refrain
١. يا مَنْ إِذا رُمْتُ عَنْهُ الصَّبْرَ يَمْنَعُني
شَوْقٌ يُجيبُ وَدَمْعٌ لَيْسَ يَمْتَنِعُ
2. Grant me to deceive my eyelids from contemplating him
For how can I fool a heart that will not be fooled
٢. هَبْني أُخادِعُ طَرْفي عَنْ تأَمُّلِهِ
فَكَيْفَ أَخْدَعُ قَلْباً لَيْسَ يَنْخَدِعُ
3. Submit when he whom you love becomes dear and humble yourself to him
For the affection of the people of passion lasts when they submit
٣. اخْضَعْ إِذا عَزَّ مَنْ تَهْوى وَذِلَّ لَهُ
فَودُّ أَهْلِ الهَوى أَبْقَى إِذا خَضَعُوا
