1. O you who reproach me without cause

١. يا عاتباً لي بِغَيْرِ عَتْبِ
وهاجراً لي بِغَيْرِ ذَنْبِ
2. If not for you, tears would not flow
Down my cheeks in streams over streams
٢. لولاكَ لَمْ تَجْرِ لي دُمُوعٌ
سَكْباً عَلَى الخدِّ فوقَ سَكْبِ
3. Do not deny that tears fell like pearls
Scattered, not pierced or strung
٣. لا تُنْكِرَن إِنْ جَرَتْ بِدُرٍّ
مُنْتَثِرٍ لَمْ يُشَنْ بِثَقْبِ
4. That turned my eyelids red
Their flow from my blood and heart
٤. صيَّرَها في الجفونِ حُمْراً
تَصعيدُها منْ دَمي وقلبي
