1. You cannot see me though you crane your neck
As you walk between their ranks

2. They all outdo me in wealth
And my tongue is adorned with poetry

3. So when we converse and recite verses
It's as if I'm the leader of them all

4. Many a rival's soul is gentler than any spirit
And is so witty he almost flies

5. So if he aims for my goal he falls short
And from afar is like a fading star
