And you, O Yazid, have forsaken your own ignoble roots.

3. You reproached me for the lineage of nobility, yet
The pride of all prides is to be counted as noble.

4. The bellies of spite toward me have all protruded,
Whether my oppressor among them or my oppressed.

5. Were it not for the clan of Awf, son of Buhayshah
The mother of your clan would have remained barren.
