1. Your loftiness towers above the highest heavens
Your existence has become beneficial to all existence

2. Your glory above the pinnacle of stars shines
None can ascend and reach it however they try

3. If glories attempted to match your loftiness
Perhaps they could match a ray of your light

4. You are even higher in bliss, all pride
You grab when you extend an arm to it

5. None can challenge your stature even if
He spanned the galaxy trying to match you

6. I cannot attain the valor of an honorable man
Whose lineage to Al-Farooq is well known

7. Among the best of honorable men, Bani Adi
An astute man of merit who became a sword

8. An imam, a scholar, an ocean, a leader
Courageous and valiant, a brave hero

9. Pure of soul, praiseworthy traits
A savior, an aid, a master obeyed

10. Most honored of the honorable, noble of soul
Most generous, who benefits all people

11. Bounties in his hands overflowing
Fearing not to give lest they run out

12. He is rain pouring when we are thirsty
And lightning if an enemy attacks us

13. His hands brandish a blazing torch
Threatening the enemy hordes with death

14. Even mountains cower before him, if he climbed them
The peak nearly cracks and splits in two

15. The brother of lofty ambitions, when turbulent
The sea is but a pool, however deep and wide

16. With thoughts that make even the darkness shine
If gloom took light itself from them as a lamp

17. An orator whose hands scatter such prose
That if gathered would fill a citadel

18. O Sword of Wael in poetry a prodigy
Peerless if grasping the banner as it billows

19. Terrifying the enemy ranks when he copies down
Epistles and parchments with his script

20. How many ingenious ideas are in his writing
For which his notebooks made covers

21. None but the son of the honorable, and no pretense
Our savior of mankind, above dispute

22. You have built around Baghdad a wall
That would have collapsed without your bolstering

23. Like the ancient pyramids, which still stand tall
As if built together, nurtured side by side

24. But time has worn it down, changed its attire
Altering its robe to a new patchwork

25. Had it met what Dhu'l Rumma's wall met
It would have become a ruin, decayed

26. Time has made it frail, sapped its strength
It cannot withstand assaults any longer

27. Winds have blown on it, so whichever way
You look, you see it bending and curved

28. Hence its façade seems racked with cracks
As if its head is beset by headaches

29. You have restored it with resolve
Strengthening the rocks, no hesitation

30. The ambition of the glorious, if you wished
Could make planets orbit at your command

31. Were it not that a small part of it
Would make my mind utterly collapse

32. May it last till the resurrection, wearing the dress
Of eternity, thwarting those who scheme deceptions

33. You have fortified the crumbled pillars
Secured the citadels and fortresses

34. You have erected it all, till it gleams
As if you smoothed it with a file

35. After dilapidation, it became new again
Vying with stars, ascending on high

36. Its balconies now shine upon it
As if the sun lent them its rays

37. You have expended effort upon it, as we see
Certainty, not hearsay we relate

38. You have safeguarded religion and life entire
With it, and quelled the rabble and riffraff

39. So thank you, O Master, and praise
For restoring life to the four-sided wall

40. O you whose merits abound
And traits shine as nature

41. Without greed, I send you my eulogy
Though I wish to benefit from you

42. Glories continue to rise with you
Yet men of merit fall short beside your stature
