1. We have good tidings, for the people of the land have returned
So they will never be estranged again

2. And the rule of the rascals has turned away from us
The terror has gone and corruption has vanished

3. Happiness has entered every heart
With the support of its Noble Creator

4. And after fear, we now have safety
So we relaxed in Baghdad

5. We have cast down arms and do not care
For the tyrants of injustice have perished

6. And security has come alive though it was dead
As the meadows come alive with rain clouds

7. And how not, when Abu Hassan Ali
Has come to us as Governor, he who was intended

8. Valiant, intrepid, savior, courageous
Perfect, hero, generous steed

9. Noble of soul, praiseworthy in manner
His nobility will never be exhausted

10. Brother of lofty aspirations, whenever they surge
The ocean is too small to contain them

11. If he wished to reach the sky with them
He would swiftly attain it, however remote the land

12. With opinions he advances civilizations
And management that is accompanied by guidance

13. His feet have enriched him beyond
Armies so numerous they confound all counting

14. How much more so with lions around him
Who would make a lion recoil if it faced their onslaught

15. Brandishing rifles though rabble
As if clamor were their nature from time immemorial

16. Such that even heroes flee them in panic
As if their faces sprouted smallpox

17. You have learned audacity from the audacious
Against the frenzied when the time for separation came

18. O pride of the noble, I do not flatter
O light of mankind, in you they glory

19. And let your justice bequeath the ages light
So that their youth was cloven by darkness

20. Your traits have pleased the nights
So even the disobedient are seen to comply

21. You have waged wars and every battle
Has gained reinforcements from you at birth

22. How much blood you have spilled amid the frenzy
And how many groups you have scattered that sought blood

23. You have rightly gashed the throat of glory
While others have been left to wither

24. And you have excelled kings in hunting, proudly
And have been carried high for glory's sake

25. You have attained leadership which came to you willingly
For in the most high there is unity with you

26. You are for it, beyond peers, qualified
You are for its house its pillar of aid

27. You are for every serious affair an aid in truth
You are for every new beginning a dampener

28. You are for the people of Baghdad their life
As rainfall gives life to the meadows

29. Our pastures have become fertile through your justice
While the pastures of the unjust are devastated

30. Through you leadership is perfected for ministers
As the necklace is perfected by the eye

31. You are for their honor an impregnable fortress
You are for the crown of their prestige a bandage

32. I have praised you without exaggeration
And have not made praising you my habit

33. But a tenth of praise for what befits you
Cannot be encompassed by the pen

34. Abu Hassan, good tidings to you, and joy to us
O people!

35. Remove adversity from us immediately and date
With your good fortune the leveling of the lands
