1. These ruins have endured sermons,
So listen my friend to what they will say.

2. Their heads held high though drums,
Have persistently upon them played.

3. The hand of time has scattered them,
And made them seem like fleeing horses.

4. Time has stripped some bare, and made them
Look like upright poles.

5. Overlooking their own decline by decree,
Of the Able, the Subduer, the Eternal.

6. They, fate, and God are witness to,
All that has happened around them.

7. O eyes, may you never lack sight,
Disturb not, for many horses have here charged.

8. These ruins stand only,
Above a kingdom too vast to tell of.

9. Destroyed by the hands of zeal and ignorance,
And a terrifying kind of war.

10. No king remains in the desert,
Who savaged the weak.

11. They are now extinguished in dust,
While the ignorant flock to their evil.

12. Sorrow returns no dead to life,
Why then does grief roam?

13. What is gone will not return, like one who,
Has died, and to speak long of is futile.

14. For this existence will pass away,
And fortune into misfortune will turn.

15. When the thinker drowns in the state,
Of his world, bewilderment will afflict him.

16. Say to those who believe in the existence of ghosts,
My friend, your fate is a ghost.
