1. The night wore on, the air grew murky,
Waves surged, churned by clouds so lurky.

2. Lightning flashed in pitch darkness,
How dreadful was the sea's starkness!

3. Electricity cracked through the gloom
Like fire, not shooting stars in bloom.

4. Thunder roared, mountains quaking,
As if about to come crashing and breaking.

5. Winds raged, whipping up dust clouds able
To carry off mountains as if they were gravel.

6. Every living thing hid from the din,
Even dogs were strangely silent within.

7. The wasteland became an ocean, though
Just yesterday it was only mirage and show.

8. We watch the horror covertly,
From safety behind a door firmly.

9. It distracted us from our own plight,
And from our wounds the flies took flight.

10. With no leader to guide or command,
The land would be ruined as if by a hand.

11. I thought of the mercy God did send,
To aid mankind through horrors He did end.

12. I believed the clash of forces so strong
Gives life to those who to dust belong.
