1. Do you welcome time with optimism
While the nature of time is to betray

2. If its days seemed prosperous
You'd soon see it turn and go away

3. It hurls its events randomly
To whoever it wants to see

4. If left alone it passes by
If brought together it scatters away

5. It showed us before our eyes a knight
Whose boldness exceeds fortresses

6. How much did he raise his voice asking for help
For my people and for truth as a supporter

7. And whoever shook his pen for truth
Is like one who shook his spear for it

8. With his absence we lost a master
Who strove to serve his homelands

9. And we feel from losing him
A wound difficult to heal

10. The free man's determination and soul
Cannot be sold or bought on earth

11. Oh how I long for a gathering
Empty of the one I resent

12. Why should we count months
Till his return which we await

13. I wish that his death
Matched his great status

14. If one could avenge
Death we'd not hesitate for revenge

15. And I'm shocked that it delays
The wretched and hastens the good

16. So seize the good, for youth
Will meet death no matter their age

17. And however high his titles
If not a worker he is despised

18. But his great deeds
Elevate him to highest place

19. And how many passed with titles
With conscience buried in the ground

20. With giving birth to the like of you
In a village lost among villages

21. Sleep in peace and in joy
For your effort in its time bore fruit

22. Grief has prevented me from composing
Poems or prose about you

23. Excuse me for falling short
The like of me deserves excuse

24. Grief imposed itself on its likes
But faith requires we be patient

25. What can one do
When God's decree is done

26. Is there solace for his loss
Except that this is the fate of mortals

27. And we will remember him as virtuous
Too proud for cowardice or blame

28. We'll remember him as long as we live
And if we die those who know will remember
