1. O how strange are maidens on the day of Ma'qilah
They mocked me beneath the shade of the great lote tree

ูก. ูŠุง ุนูŽุฌูŽุจุงู‹ ู„ูู„ุนูŽุฐุงุฑู‰ ูŠูŽูˆู…ูŽ ู…ูŽุนู‚ูู„ูŽุฉู
ุนูŽูŠู‘ูŽุฑู†ูŽู†ูŠ ุชูŽุญุชูŽ ุธูู„ู‘ู ุงู„ุณูุฏุฑูŽุฉู ุงู„ูƒูุจูŽุฑุง

2. So my tears from what was revealed to me streamed forth
Down upon my youth whenever I would wipe them away

ูข. ููŽุธูŽู„ู‘ูŽ ุฏูŽู…ุนููŠูŽ ู…ูŽู…ู‘ุง ุจุงู†ูŽ ู„ูŠ ุณูŽุฑูุจุงู‹

3. And if my tribe found my evening to have departed
Then I would hunt gazelles and cows with it

ููŽู‚ูŽุฏ ุฃูŽุตูŠุฏู ุจูู‡ุง ุงู„ุบูุฒู„ุงู†ูŽ ูˆูŽุงู„ุจูŽู‚ูŽุฑุง

4. Can an elderly man be blamed if his eyes shed tears
Or is he excused if he offers an apology?

ูค. ู‡ูŽู„ ูŠูุดุชูŽู…ูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ูƒูŽุจูŠุฑู ุงู„ุณูู†ู‘ู ุฃูŽู† ุฐูŽุฑูŽููŽุช
ุนูŽูŠู†ุงู‡ู ุฃูŽู… ู‡ููˆูŽ ู…ูŽุนุฐูˆุฑูŒ ุฅูู†ู ุงูุนุชูŽุฐูŽุฑุง

5. O Bashir you are Allahโ€™s sword, attack the enemy with it
And a rain that makes the trees grow

ูฅ. ูŠุง ุจูุดุฑู ุฅูู†ู‘ูŽูƒูŽ ุณูŽูŠูู ุงู„ู„ูŽู‡ู ุตูŠู„ูŽ ุจูู‡ู
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ุงู„ุนูŽุฏููˆู‘ู ูˆูŽุบูŽูŠุซูŒ ูŠูู†ุจูุชู ุงู„ุดูŽุฌูŽุฑุง

6. Who is like Bashir for unrelenting war
When he dons his coat of mail and loincloth

ูฆ. ู…ูŽู† ู…ูุซู„ู ุจูุดุฑู ู„ูุญูŽุฑุจู ุบูŽูŠุฑู ุฎุงู…ูุฏูŽุฉู
ุฅูุฐุง ุชูŽุณูŽุฑุจูŽู„ูŽ ุจูุงู„ู…ุงุฐููŠู‘ู ูˆูŽุงูุชู‘ูŽุฒูŽุฑุง

7. Binding war until it is led captive for him
At al-Musharifiyya and al-โ€˜Afi if he so wills

ูง. ุงู„ุนุงุตูุจู ุงู„ุญูŽุฑุจูŽ ุญูŽุชู‘ู‰ ุชูŽุณุชูŽู‚ูŠุฏูŽ ู„ูŽู‡ู
ุจูุงู„ู…ูŽุดุฑููููŠู‘ูŽุฉู ูˆูŽุงู„ุนุงููŠ ุฅูุฐุง ู‚ูŽุฏูŽุฑุง

8. A sword brandished, the Commander of the Faithful wields it
And through it the Merciful has given victory to the supported

ูˆูŽู‚ูŽุฏ ุฃูŽุนูŽุฒู‘ูŽ ุจูู‡ู ุงู„ุฑูŽุญู…ูŽู†ู ู…ูŽู† ู†ูŽุตูŽุฑุง

9. Like the roaring of lions, strong necked ones
Whose bellowing breaks fortresses and palaces

ูฉ. ูƒูŽู…ูุฎุฏูุฑู ู…ูู† ู„ููŠูˆุซู ุงู„ุบูŠู„ู ุฐูŠ ู„ูุจูŽุฏู
ุถูุฑุบุงู…ูŽุฉู ูŠูŽุญุทูู…ู ุงู„ู‡ุงู…ุงุชู ูˆูŽุงู„ู‚ูŽุตูŽุฑุง

10. You see the lions, dumbstruck by him, their manes
Prostrating out of fear of him when he roars

ูกู . ุชูŽุฑู‰ ุงู„ุฃูุณูˆุฏูŽ ู„ูŽู‡ู ุฎูุฑุณุงู‹ ุถูŽุฑุงุบูู…ูู‡ุง
ูŠูŽุณุฌูุฏู†ูŽ ู…ูู† ููŽุฑูŽู‚ู ู…ูู†ู‡ู ุฅูุฐุง ุฒูŽุฃูŽุฑุง

11. Familiar with meeting people, seizing
The wineglass that takes the wine from it

ูกูก. ู…ูุณุชูŽุฃู†ูุณู ุจูู„ูู‚ุงุกู ุงู„ู†ุงุณู ู…ูุบุชูŽุตูุจู
ู„ูู„ุฃูŽู„ูู ูŠูŽุฃุฎูุฐู ู…ูู†ู‡ู ุงู„ู…ูู‚ู†ูŽุจู ุงู„ุฎูŽู…ูŽุฑุง

12. As if the perfumer were sprinkling his perfume bottle
And his arms with aloes wood, staining his hair

ูกูข. ูƒูŽุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽู…ุง ูŠูŽู†ุถูŽุญู ุงู„ุนูŽุทู‘ุงุฑู ูƒูŽู„ูƒูŽู„ูŽู‡ู
ูˆูŽุณุงุนูุฏูŽูŠู‡ู ุจููˆูŽุฑุณู ูŠูŽุฎุถูุจู ุงู„ุดูŽุนูŽุฑุง

13. And I have never delighted in the relief from the woes of illness
Like the delight on the day when they said the news has arrived

14. Al-Fatah โ€˜Ikrimah the Bakri has informed us
That Abu Marwan al-Rabiโ€˜ has come
