1. Neither the father of Bushr nor his parents
Are like those who raised your hands to the tallest building.

2. Nor is she who gathered them for you
Between the palms of the servant of the waning sun.

3. Do you know, O Bani Umayyah, they fought
Only with the sword of prophecy unsheathed.

4. They struck with the right of a prophecy that was theirs
And the swords of lions hiding that did not waver.

5. You see the countries and their beasts fear him
A king, though he does not say what he has not done.

6. And some dozing as if they had drunk
Ancient years atop the camel litter.

7. And you see for them flags whose fluttering
Troubles the heads tossed about and twisted.

8. I roused them through you after forgetfulness prevailed
Among them like eyes of slumbering gazelles unlined with kohl.

9. Among them two dead fell to the hooves
Of a mottled horse in no hurry trotting easy.

10. O best of those whose mount took me to you
Neither I nor my companion swerved from the path.

11. The years consumed our countries leaving them
Barren and every beast bewildered and confused.

12. And indeed I left in Wahifin a remnant
Who hope for your gift of grace not to be refused.

13. He gave the son of Atikah ‒ none higher than him
Other than prophethood and most majestic glory―

14. His authority and the Prophet's staff and a ring
He cast to him among his necklaces and anklets.

15. The people of the East and West, when they saw
That which mentions Muhammad, did not waiver.
