1. The sons of my paternal uncle are the closest of people to me in kinship
And the greatest tribe alive among the children of Maalik in leadership

2. I see glory and dreams have turned to them
And if the caller stirs, you see them as a host

3. They answered the call of Dhirar when he called them at Qurraḥ
With burnished swords that were inherited from their fathers

4. And they turned back watchfully on the day of Shu‘bah at al-Qanā
So their latecomer had the glory that he had

5. And the day of Wakī‘ when he called “O Maalik!”
They answered while his battalions feared the roses

6. And Sūrat whose blood they shed for him
In the evening they cover hilltops and meadows

7. How can people blame us for being angry for them
The sons of my paternal uncle to whom friendliness inclines

8. Their origin is my origin and my branches are to them
My sword-belts were braided from their leather
