1. Those who made licit every abomination
Of forbidden acts, breaking their pledges,
١. إِنَّ الَّذينَ اِستَحَلّوا كُلَّ فاحِشَةٍ
مِنَ المَحارِمِ بَعدَ النَقضِ لِلذِمَمِ
2. A people who came hastily from Sijistan
Hypocrites, with no bonds or taboos,
٢. قَومٍ أَتَوا مِن سَجِستانٍ عَلى عَجَلٍ
مُنافِقونَ بِلا حِلٍّ وَلا حَرَمِ
3. When their affairs were in ferment,
None could be entreated to protect Islam or its sanctuaries,
٣. ما كانَ فيهِم وَقَد هُمَّت أُمورُهُمُ
مَن يُستَجارُ عَلى الإِسلامِ وَالحُرَمِ
4. They sought victories through one whose chapter
The daybreaks have not named, extending hands to generosity.
٤. يَستَفتِحونَ بِمَن لَم تَسمُ سورَتُهُ
بَينَ الطَوالِعِ بِالأَيدي إِلى الكَرَمِ
