1. God has created water, an upright palm tree beside it

١. لَحا اللَهُ ماءً حَنبَلٌ قَيِّمٌ لَهُ
قَفا ضَبَّةٍ تَحتَ الصَفاةِ مَكونِ
2. When you come to the water, turn to the palm tree
With bread of coarse flour or bread of fine flour
٢. إِذا ما وَرَدتَ الماءَ فَاِدلِف لِحَنبَلٍ
بِقَعبِ سَويقٍ أَو بِقَعبِ طَحينِ
3. I give the sons of the road, from a nobleman
Drinks that heal the wearied, buried
٣. أَوَيتُ لِأَبناءِ الطَريقِ مِنِ اِمرِئٍ
شَروبُ الأَداوي لِلرَكِيِّ دَفونِ
4. Had Al-Hajjaj known your knowledge, he would not have followed

٤. وَلَو عَلِمَ الحَجّاجُ عِلمَكَ لَم تَبِع
يَمينُكَ ماءً مُسلِماً بِثَمينِ

٥. لَحاوَلتَ جَدعاً أَو لَأُلفيتَ مُقعَداً
تَزَحُّفَ تَمشي مِشيَةَ اِبنِ وَضينِ
