1. You squandered God's wealth unjustly
On the ill-omened, unblessed river.
١. أَهلَكتَ مالَ اللَهِ في غَيرِ حَقِّهِ
عَلى النَهَرِ المَشؤومِ غَيرِ المُبارَكِ
2. You strike upright men on their backs
Yet neglect God's right on your back, O Malik!
٢. وَتَضرِبُ أَقواماً صِحاحاً ظُهورُها
وَتَترُكُ حَقَّ اللَهِ في ظَهرِ مالِكِ
3. Is it right to spend God's wealth wrongly
And deny the rights of the fragile, gentle women?
٣. أَإِنفاقَ مالِ اللَهِ في غَيرِ كُنهِهِ
وَمَنعاً لُحَقِّ المُرمَلاتِ الضَوانِكِ
