1. This is the one the plain knows his tread
And the house recognizes him, and the sanctuary, and the inviolable place of worship
١. هَذا الَّذي تَعرِفُ البَطحاءُ وَطأَتَهُ
وَالبَيتُ يَعرِفُهُ وَالحِلُّ وَالحَرَمُ
2. This is the son of the best of God's servants altogether
This is the devout, the pure, the immaculate, the learned
٢. هَذا اِبنُ خَيرِ عِبادِ اللَهِ كُلِّهِمُ
هَذا التَقِيُّ النَقِيُّ الطاهِرُ العَلَمُ
3. This is the son of Fatima, if you do not know him
His grandfather, the prophets of God, have been sealed
٣. هَذا اِبنُ فاطِمَةٍ إِن كُنتَ جاهِلَهُ
بِجَدِّهِ أَنبِياءُ اللَهِ قَد خُتِموا
4. And your saying "Who is this?" does not harm him
The Arabs know who you denied, and the non-Arabs
٤. وَلَيسَ قَولُكَ مَن هَذا بِضائِرِهِ
العُربُ تَعرِفُ مَن أَنكَرتَ وَالعَجَمُ
5. Both his hands are succor, whose benefits encompassed them
Sufficient to be relied upon, and loss does not touch them
٥. كِلتا يَدَيهِ غِياثٌ عَمَّ نَفعُهُما
يُستَوكَفانِ وَلا يَعروهُما عَدَمُ
6. Easy of nature, his sudden attacks are not feared
Adorned by two, the beauty of character and propriety
٦. سَهلُ الخَليقَةِ لا تُخشى بَوادِرُهُ
يَزينُهُ اِثنانِ حُسنُ الخَلقِ وَالشِيَمُ
7. Bearer of the burdens of a people, when they give allegiance
Sweet of traits, blessings with him are sweet
٧. حَمّالُ أَثقالِ أَقوامٍ إِذا اِفتُدِحوا
حُلوُ الشَمائِلِ تَحلو عِندَهُ نَعَمُ
8. He never said "No", except in his declaration of faith
If it weren't for his declaration, his "Yes" would be blessings
٨. ما قالَ لا قَطُّ إِلّا في تَشَهُّدِهِ
لَولا التَشَهُّدُ كانَت لاءَهُ نَعَمُ
9. He spread goodness throughout creation, so darkness cleared away
From it, and gloom, and loss
٩. عَمَّ البَرِيَّةَ بِالإِحسانِ فَاِنقَشَعَت
عَنها الغَياهِبُ وَالإِملاقُ وَالعَدَمُ
10. When Quraysh saw him, one of them said
Nobility ends at the noble traits of this man
١٠. إِذا رَأَتهُ قُرَيشٌ قالَ قائِلُها
إِلى مَكارِمِ هَذا يَنتَهي الكَرَمُ
11. He lowers his gaze out of modesty, and he is lowered from his awe
So he is not spoken to except when he smiles
١١. يُغضي حَياءً وَيُغضى مِن مَهابَتِهِ
فَما يُكَلَّمُ إِلّا حينَ يَبتَسِمُ
12. In his palm are herbs, whose fragrance is redolent musk
From the palm of the most gracious in its meadows
١٢. بِكَفِّهِ خَيزُرانٌ ريحُهُ عَبِقٌ
مِن كَفِّ أَروَعَ في عِرنينِهِ شَمَمُ
13. Recognition of his comfort almost holds him back
The pillar of Hijr, when he comes to take charge of it
١٣. يَكادُ يُمسِكُهُ عِرفانُ راحَتِهِ
رُكنُ الحَطيمِ إِذا ما جاءَ يَستَلِمُ
14. God ennobled him by ancestry, and magnified him
By that his pen flowed for him in His tablet
١٤. اللَهُ شَرَّفَهُ قِدماً وَعَظَّمَهُ
جَرى بِذاكَ لَهُ في لَوحِهِ القَلَمُ
