1. When dreams bring me to Salma,
Say on a short starry night:

2. She came after the camels knelt down with us
In the shade of a vast white tent.

3. I said: “Are dreams like that or not?”
“Did the lovely ladies of old come to me?”

4. When the caller summoned us to pray,
I got up, still in rapture with her.

5. My yearning for any beauty of Darimiyyah
Is for the straightest and proudest fathers.

6. When my tribesmen from all places
Of diverse generosity gather,

7. Their heads rushing to perform Umrah
To the inviolable house of curtains.

8. We saw them and we have over them
The prayers of those who lift their hands and of invokers.

9. We inherited from Allah’s friend a house
That is perfumed for prayers and ablution.

10. It is the house which from all directions
The faces of the people of graves turn to.

11. O Allah’s best ones for Islam, we appeal to you
To open up your chests.

12. Carriers will bring us to you
With blood dripping from overburdened backs.

13. Daughters of Da’ir when they meet,
Their breasts swinging as they walk proudly

14. That we may come to the best people alive
To whom the reins of affairs are entrusted.
