Assailing the tribes with his weightiest ode
١. أَمسى لِتَغلِبَ مِن تَميمٍ شاعِرٌ
يَرمي القَبائِلَ بِالقَصيدِ الأَثقَلِ
2. When Ka'b son of Ju'ayl was lost to his people
And the poets all insolently jeered after Al-Akhtal
٢. إِذ غابَ كَعبُ بَني جُعَيلٍ عَنهُمُ
وَتَنَمَّرَ الشُعَراءُ بَعدَ الأَخطَلِ
3. Exchanging the news of his death, with me behind them
Preparing for them a terrible chastisement
٣. يَتَباشَرونَ بِمَوتِهِ وَوَراءَهُم
مِنّي لَهُم قِطَعُ العَذابِ المُرسَلِ
