1. The daughters of the skillful dancers, each noble
Beautiful that brings joy to one struck with passion

2. The pebbles remain from their footsteps as if
Thrown by hands waving veils back and forth

3. When she rides a mare galloping
And her guide calls to her with whistles

4. They race like jinn until she stops it
Her saddle blanket and the gait of one throwing spears

5. Slaves whom the breasts cover each night
And their riders like rumbling waves

6. As if the oil's extract from their necks
Poured out and the hanging braids

7. Pillars for Al-‘Abbas would not suffice
Even if they were the best spear-throwers

8. So you may hear praise and eulogy from my words
And carry my words, O son of the best caliphs

9. And how many generous ones complain of frail bones
You established for them what they complain with supporters

10. And secured them from what they fear when they take refuge
In you, so they become safe, no longer afraid

11. You are relief for the displaced when they wander
And guiding light, O son of munificent kings

12. My praises of Al-‘Abbas, most generous of those who walk
When they rode and then met at the stopping places

13. You see them when they face him on a field day
Lowering their eyelids’ edges that glance

14. Had they surpassed him in glory, it would be too little for them
With the best water-bearers you know and overflowing

15. And their seas rise above the seas of all creatures
With a deed atop the deeds of creation twofold

16. No female born of mankind is like him
Nor has any wrapped him in winding cloths
