1. Jareer ibn Al-Muraqqah wronged the tribe of Taym
So Taym met out bitter punishment upon him
١. تَغَنّى جَريرُ بنُ المَراغَةِ ظالِماً
لِتَيمٍ فَلاقى التَيمَ مُرّاً عِقابُها
2. And Taym is a place no stars can reach
When its maidens assemble with their tambourines
٢. وَتَيمٌ مَكانَ النَجمِ لا يَستَطيعُها
إِذا زَخَرَت يَوماً إِلَيها رَبابِها
3. It is home to the warriors who are feared in war
When the din of battle bursts forth from its ravines
٣. وَفيها بَنو الحَربِ الَّتي يُتَّقى بِها
وَغاها إِذا ما الحَربُ جاشَت شِعابُها
4. Truly I stand equal between Taym and Kulayb
When its hounds poured forth
٤. وَإِنّي لَقاضٍ بَينَ تَيمٍ فَعادِلٌ
وَبَينَ كُلَيبٍ حينَ هَرَّت كِلابُها
5. Kulayb are miserable folk who never change their evil ways
While Taym's enemies are necks broken under their swords
٥. كُلَيبٌ لِئامٌ ما تُغَيِّرُ سَوءَةً
وَتَيمٌ عَلى الأَعداءِ غُلبٌ رِقابُها
6. Will Taym's innocence regarding me be made clear
When I fear for the lives of my tribesmen?
٦. فَهَل تُنجِيَنّي عِندَ تَيمٌ بَراءَتي
وَإِنّي عَلى أَحسابُ قَومي أَهابُها
7. Had I not been true, I'd not have left
Kulayb to Taym when its horses charged
٧. وَلَولا الَّذي لَم يَترُكِ الجِدُّ لَم أَدَع
كُلَيباً لِتَيمٍ حينَ عَبَّ عُبابُها
