1. Will no one tell Ziyad that I fled,
Seeking refuge with Sa'id, from you,
١. أَلا مَن مُبلِغٌ عَنّي زِياداً
بِأَنّي قَد لَجَأتُ إِلى سَعيدِ
2. To one of lineage and glory tried,
Fleeing the foul abuse that makes cubs,
٢. وَأَنّي قَد فَرَرتُ إِلَيهِ مِنكُم
إِلى ذي المَجدِ وَالحَسَبِ التَليدِ
3. Of lions fear, from the threats implied
٣. فِراراً مِن شَتيمِ الوَجهِ وَردٍ
يُفِزُّ الأُسدَ خَوفاً بِالوَعيدِ
