1. In the darkness of nights that overwhelmed me
Their darkness was dispelled from me by the crescent moon

2. With the blessed right hand of one called to goodness
It supports it when the left rises

3. It is my right that I hasten to you
And in your hand lies chastisement and boon

4. You see the eyes humbly turned to Him
As they glance upward when the crescent is seen

5. I saw you had excelled while you shoot
Beyond reckoning when strife was heated

6. By the one to whom Quraysh made pilgrimage
To His Kaaba and what Ila contains

7. I am a keeper so keep my oath
In Mecca where the mounts were lodged

8. That they may migrate to you with a host
Of laden camels beneath them the swift she-camels

9. Many a father for you ascends and grows
With him the lofty date palms ever tall
