1. We complained to You of the hardship in the year
That brought ruin upon our wealth, blight upon blight,

2. Until no wealth remained to sustain any man
Nor pasture in the land of sorrow nor on the plain.

3. So alleviate this people's misery, for You know well
The hardship and afflictions that You made them bear.
