Am true to our pact, upright in deed

2. Ready to answer his call if he calls
With haste and chosen companions indeed

3. Between us and you, be it known
A journey of nine for the valiant steed

4. Three from Sarat to Al-Hulw lie
Ample for horses racing at speed

5. Three lead to Taima’ for rest
And three deceive with conceit

6. When you pass Musabtar, gather your horses
Like a swarm of locusts take heed

7. While dawn breaks with captives at hand
From my plundering and reprisal at need

8. Would that I see a dome of abode
Fortressed for Al-Harith the intrepid

9. With lofty Yafa as his estate
Above a king subdued at his creed

10. O you who promised, my keenness
Lies between field and hill, take heed

11. Where I startle not the cowardly raider
With lions surrounding, angry indeed
