1. For my life, I have dwelled among the tribe of Wā’il
And from Wā’il I dwelled among the tribe of Talb

2. So I came to dwell among the tribe of Arāqim, none said
“O fiery son of Zālim, go away”

3. And I had thought, when I came to understand you
O clan of ‘Ads, I thought you were like the people of Yathrib

4. The morning Tubba’ came against them with his armies
They did not spare the two men from the tribe of Yaḥṣub

5. If you are a thornbush among the ‘Āliyah Hawāzin
You would fear, for among you are fangs and talons

6. And if a brave man prevents his neighbor
I am astonished by it, then more astonished
