1. I ordered you one day at Dhi Sanaa
An obvious order, proper was its guidance

2. I ordered you to fear Allah
And to persist in virtue

3. You left Muna like an ass
Deceived by its tether and peg

4. Wishing me upon a horse
While you sit upon it, it bites you

5. To me belongs pure overflowing generosity
Like a spring whose water is renewed

6. You return the spear bending
Aimlessly, purposeful is its straightness

7. So had you faced me, you'd have faced
A lion, bloody are its paws

8. You meet a writhing serpent
Bucking, stubborn is its piercing sting

9. It confronts the horn, if a horn
Inclines towards it, it braces against it

10. It takes it and lifts it
Then lowers it and moderates it

11. Then crushes it and shatters it
Then chews it and grinds it

12. Unjust is the polytheist in what
His fangs seized, and his hands

13. Whenever he comes and goes
Therein, his acceptance is cold to him

14. He worries like the foam's worry
Above his drink, is its scum

15. So he spent the night, plagued by
Gnats, forbidden became his land

16. So do not wish me, and wish
Another unlike me, pliant is its peg

17. And he took as a home
Aample, numerous around it are its people
