1. A perilous journey I had undertaken
Across a wasteland of awe and tribulation
١. وَمَهمَهٍ قَد قَطَعتُ طامِسَهُ
قَفرٍ عَلى الهَولِ وَالمُحاماةِ
2. With a lively, striding, nimble she-camel
A feral, desert-bred beast
٢. بِحُرَّةٍ جَسرَةٍ عُذافِرَةٍ
خَوصاءَ عَيرانَةٍ عَلَنداةِ
3. At dawn, as soon as the sun would rise
She would set out seeking to please me
٣. تُبادِرُ الشَمسَ كُلَّما طَلَعَت
بِالسَيرِ تَبغي بِذاكَ مَرضاتي
4. O faithful companion, do right by us, do not cross
Your soul beyond what you can endure
٤. يا ثاقُ خُبّي بِنا وَلا تَعدي
نَفسَكِ مِمّا تَرَينَ راحاتِ
5. Until you bring us to a sovereign
Whom God has crowned with reverence
٥. حَتّى تُناخي بِنا إِلى مَلِكٍ
تَوَّجَهُ اللَهُ بِالمَهاباتِ
6. Upon his head, two crowns above his temples
A crown of majesty, a crown of devotion
٦. عَلَيهِ تاجانِ فَوقَ مَفرِقِهِ
تاجُ جَلالٍ وَتاجُ إِخباتِ
7. He says to the wind, whenever it blows tempestuous:
"Do you have it in you, O wind, to compete with me?"
٧. يَقولُ لِلريحِ كُلَّما عَصَفَت
هَل لَكِ يا ريحُ في مُباراتي
8. Who can compare to one whose uncle is the Messenger and whose
Maternal uncles are the most honorable of allies?
٨. مَن مِثلُ مَن عَمُّهُ الرَسولُ وَمَن
أَخوالُهُ أَكرَمُ الخُؤولاتِ
