1. I have believed in God and become certain,
And God is enough for me wherever I may be.

2. How many a brother whose love has betrayed me,
Yet I have not changed nor been disloyal.

3. Praise be to God for His making;
When my brother prospers, I rejoice.

4. How wondrous is this world and its changes!
How it has colored me as I conform!

5. For the distant one I yearn for a day I'm pledged to.
If my day drew near, I would surely have built.

6. I am but swimming in wishes,
Now despising them, now finding them fair.

7. Wondrous am I, having chosen among my doubts
To complain of what I have become certain of.

8. O Lord, a slip I made when I said
That I had become well established.

9. And time will not run out of wonders,
If I for timesharpened my wits.
