1. You hoard wealth without spending some
For yourself as provision - that is ruin
١. أَتَجمَعُ مالاً لا تُقَدِّمُ بَعضَهُ
لِنَفسِكَ ذُخراً إِنَّ ذا لَسُقوطُ
2. And bequeath it ignorantly after death
Leaving it while alive though destitute
٢. وَتُوصي بِهِ بَعدَ المَماتِ جَهالَةً
وَتَترُكُهُ حَياً وَأَنتَ بَسيطُ
3. Your share of what you always hoard
Is just two shrouds made somewhere in Egypt
٣. نَصيبُكَ مِمّا صِرتَ تَجمَعُ دائِباً
ثُوَيبانِ مِن قُبطِيَّةٍ وَحَنوطُ
4. As if you're shrouded, called to decay
With your coffin carried by men yelling
٤. كَأَنَّكَ قَد جُهِّزتَ تُدعى إِلى البِلى
لِنَعشِكَ في أَيدي الرِجالِ أَطيطُ
5. You saw a horror like none other
And the power of a Lord over all surrounding
٥. وَعايَنتَ هَولاً لا يُعايَنُ مِثلُهُ
وَقُدرَةَ رَبٍّ بِالعِبادِ تُحيطُ
6. And you reached a home, the home - not that
In which you lived, while vigorous and active
٦. وَصِرتَ إِلى دارٍ هِيَ الدارُ لا الَّتي
أَقَمتَ بِها حَياً وَأَنتَ نَشيطُ
7. A place where people gather and equals
Hunters, nobles, commons, and weak mingle
٧. مَحَلٌّ بِهِ الأَقوامُ وَيحَكَ تَستَوي
فَصيدٌ كِرامٌ سادَةٌ وَنَبيطُ
