1. Stop your tears, for all that lives must pass away
And be patient for the blows of fate’s caprice

2. O my home! Though I did not build you right
As I erected you from bricks and stone

3. How can I be consoled when, without fail,
One day my brothers will walk with me here

4. A corpse atop a bier held by men, and o’er it
A body sold for coins, however mean

5. Without my faith in God, and my believing heart
For God does not forsake belief, I’d have thought

6. Or truly known, when death takes me away
My fate is to a place of degradation

7. So by the light of your face, O God of Mohammed
Save me from hellfire, make heaven my place

8. And bless me with a repentance You accept
O Most High, Bestower of bounty and grace
