1. I was awake while the eyelids of others fell heavy with sleep,
And the guards slumbered though danger remained.

2. O trustee of God, your safety is the best safety -
Your piety clothes you with protection.

3. You are looked after from the heavens for your righteousness,
While looking after others as you yourself are looked after.

4. It is as if the creation were given a spirit within you -
A body for which you are the head.

5. O trustee of God, imprisonment is difficult indeed,
Yet no harm will reach you from it.
